Announcement Regarding Upcoming Meetings and New Initiative
Dear all,
We have decided to cancel the meeting on lifelong learning scheduled for 31 October. It proved too difficult to find speakers, and we have, in general, observed a decline in meeting attendance. We realise that everyone has full agendas and works under the strain of ongoing budget cuts. We recognize the demands these circumstances place upon your time. As we are also under those same pressures when organizing these events, we are adopting a new approach, consolidating our activities to make them easier to plan and more feasible for members to attend.
To honour HHH’s network function, and to foster a sense of connection and celebration within our group, we would like to propose an annual festive lecture instead of the two usual (workshop) meetings in spring and autumn. This bigger event is envisioned as an opportunity for everyone to gather, be inspired, and reconnect. In addition, we welcome ideas for roundtable discussions, which would require hardly any preparation from presenters, either in combination with the annual lecture or online. Moreover, we will continue working with the Huizinga Institute on Masterclasses and summer schools.
We are pleased to announce that the first annual festive lecture will take place on March 26. Further details about the speaker and venue will follow. In addition, and in line with ongoing reforms in the educational programmes we are involved in, we will organise a roundtable on history of medicine teaching and lifelong learning. More details on that will also follow. If you have ideas for round tables, or anything else, please send an email to historyhealthhealing@gmail.com
Best regards, Rina Knoeff on behalf of the HHH board
