Call for Popcorn Pitches – First Annual HHH Meeting & Lecture (26th of March)
Call for Popcorn Pitches
As part of the Round Table: Lifelong Learning in the History of Medicine at our First Annual HHH Meeting & Lecture we invite participants to contribute a Popcorn Pitch.
A popcorn pitch is a brief (approximately 3 minutes), focused, and engaging pitch in which you introduce a new idea, question, or initiative. Much like a film trailer, it should capture attention quickly and convey the essence of your idea in a concise and compelling way.
The aim is not to present fully developed research, but to reflect, inspire discussion, and open up new perspectives on lifelong learning within the history of medicine.
Possible topics include:
- Innovative approaches to teaching and learning
- Educational challenges within the field
- New research ideas or potential collaborations
- Experimental or forward-looking concepts
You do not have to send in your idea, just share your thoughts, ideas or reflections during the Round Table.
Details about the event and programme
As you all know, we recently announced a new direction for HHH: from now on, instead of our two separate spring and autumn meetings, we will come together once a year for one larger annual event. With this yearly festive lecture, we hope to strengthen the network function of HHH and create a moment where everyone can reconnect, share ideas, and celebrate our field in a more meaningful way.
This year’s programme is designed to highlight both conversation and inspiration. We will open with a roundtable on Lifelong Learning in the History of Medicine, bringing together different perspectives, open up discussions, reflections and brainstorms on the educational challenges within our field. After the break, Hieke Huistra will deliver the 2026 HHH Annual Lecture: ‘The living dead: Donated bodies in Dutch academic hospitals, 1970–2020’.
During this afternoon, the Gerrit Arie Lindeboom award for the best medical historical PhD thesis by Stichting Historia Medicinae will also be presented, celebrating research within our field. And of course, we will end the day with drinks at Grand Café Living, giving everyone the chance to catch up and continue the conversation.
We warmly invite everyone in the HHH network, and anyone interested in History, Health & Healing, to join us for an inspiring afternoon!
