CfA Santorio Award for excellence in research
Until November 8, 2021, applications can be sent in for the Santorio Award for Excellence in Research. This scheme supports scholarly excellence in intellectual history and promotes the best PhD theses in any aspect of the intellectual history of medicine and science with a focus on Europe throughout the period 500-1800. The winner receives a cash prize of 1,500 euros. Both the winner and the runner up are awarded a medal and a publication within the Palgrave Studies in Medieval and Early Modern Medicine (PSMEMM). In this series, HHH member Ruben Verwaal’s book Bodily fluids. Chemistry and Medicine in the Eighteenth-Century Boerhaave School came out in 2020.
