Register now for launch Drugs Monologen oral history project on 28 October

On 28 October, the oral history project Drugs Monologen (Drug Monologues) is launched during a talkshow in Verhalenhuis Belvédère in Rotterdam. Special attention will be paid to the innovative Drugs Monologen web app that allows the public to contribute their stories from the privacy of their own device.

Drugs Monologen is a NWO funded project, led by prof. dr. Gemma Blok, and a collaboration between the Open University and the Poppi Drugs Museum. The project aims to rewrite the drug history of the Netherlands based on the stories of people who actually used drugs in the period 1960-2000. What was the significance of drugs in their lives? And how was the rise of drug cultures linked to societal developments like individualisation and secularisation?

Drugs Monologen collects personal stories about drug use in the past by applying the innovative digital storytelling web app it has developed, in combination with more traditional oral history methods. In doing so, the project also aspires to open up the conversation about drug use and raise awareness around a topic that is often surrounded by taboo and stigma.

More information is found on the project website.

The project can also be followed on LinkedInInstagram and Facebook
