New SHM master thesis award
The Stichting Historia Medicinae (SHM) has added a new award to its range of activities: the biennial SHM master thesis award. Every two years the foundation is going to honour a master thesis in the field of medical history, or to be more precise: the history of health, illness, medicine, medical sciences and health care. This year the award – 1000 euros and a certificate – will be presented for the first time, the ceremony taking place at the HHH fall meeting.
Master theses finished in 2020 or 2021 at a Dutch university or other institute for higher education are eligible for the 2022 award. Nominations can be sent by e-mail to the SHM secretary until July 1, 2022. For more information visit the SHM website.
The new thesis award is part of the foundation’s new award policy, which is aimed more at young researchers, i.e. students, PhD candidates and post docs. In that light, their G.A. Lindeboomprijs – which used to be awarded every five years – will in the future be awarded every two years, alternating between the best medical history PhD thesis and the best medical history publication. All information about the SHM’s new award policy is found here.
