Nienke Groskramp wins SHM Master’s Thesis Award

At the History, Health & Healing event on January 17, the Stichting Historia Medicinae Master’s Thesis Award, recognising the best master’s thesis on medical history over the past two years, was presented to Nienke Groskamp. She received the award for her outstanding research, The Haunted Female Body: Abortion and Spiritualism in Nineteenth-Century America, which sheds new light on the intersection of religion, medicine, and reproductive rights during that period. Congratulations, Nienke!

Nienke has also written a column about this subject for HHH, Abortion in 19th-century America through the eyes of Mary Gove Nichols, which can be read here.
