About the theme

At the moment, it seems as though we are surrounded by an ever-escalating stream of crises. A new crisis begins before the last one has had a chance to resolve. This is both a frightening and a depressing experience. But crises are not only moments of disruption and despair, they are also moments of decisive change. As such, they invite us to reassess the multiple pasts of suffering and healing that is our object of study. An examination of past crises can also help us reconsider the presents that we inhabit and the futures we envision. Therefore, we have chosen Crisis in Health and Medicine as the theme for the 2023 EAHMH conference. We look forward to three stimulating and inspiring days with challenging and thought-provoking discussions in our vibrant community.
