VENI grant for Noortje Jacobs
We can donate our organs, blood, bones, urine, milk and sperm – the possibilities seem endless in medicine today. Which moral boundaries do we use when thinking about this? And how do they work out in medical practice? HHH member Noortje Jacobs has received a VENI grant for her project that focusses on these questions. In this project, she focusses on processes of moralisation regarding medical use of human bodily material in the 20th century. From a historical perspective, she will research how modern medical practice has influenced our moral stance on (parts of) our body.
Noortje wrote about this research topic before in her HHH column Waste or want.
